Threatened Landscape

Threatened Landscape is a project that I have just started and centers around Latchbrook Leat and the surrounding countryside in Saltash, Cornwall which is under threat of development for new homes and industrial units. I am painting the area throughout the seasons so it is an on-going project.

My aim is to get a body of work together, principally in Watercolour to illustrate what is in danger of being lost and to hold an exhibition to raise awareness. The venue has yet to be decided. I am open to proposals from Galleries.

Ilya Gaponov gets Evgeny Lebedev seal of approval

Erarta Galleries London currently presenting Undiscerning Appetites, a new exhibition by Ilya Gaponov. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with an introduction by Evgeny Lebedev, one of Gaponov’s foremost collectors.

Undiscerning Appetites is inspired byt the momento mori style of still life emphasizing the brevity of all earthly delights.   The artist has adopted as the main plot for his exhibition a passage from the Book of Revelation (2:18 – 2:29); Gaponov’s work, like this passage from the Bible, is an attempt to capture the pre-apocalyptic condition of our own world.

Surrealist Art by Norman Parker

There seems to be a small minority of people who like surrealist art, but those who do find it evocative and exciting. Dealers and galleries who like this sort of painting are few and far between – so enthusiasts often go away empty handed.

Here are some pictures that you won’t see in many shops or books. If you like these pictures and would like to know more about the artist, Norman Parker, or would like to buy some of his paintings and prints, please don’t hesitate to get in touch through the website.

Ar.Co

Founded in 1973 as an independent art school, Ar.Co is dedicated to theexperimentation, training and divulging of arts, crafts and visual communication. From early on in the school’s history, the alternative nature of the pedagogic project has consisted mainly of bringing together a strong emphasis on practice and a view of artistic training as a service that should “make a difference” for a public with the most diverse objectives (including that of becoming a professional artist).
